Gianni Infantino from Italy was the interim UEFA Chief Executive during 2007. He is of Armenian origin. He was only in charge until SFA Chief Executive David Taylor officially took over on the 31 March 2007. He is currently UEFA general-secretary UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino stated on August 12, 2010 «There is still a lot to do», but he had «full confidence and trust and I’m very optimistic on the success of the Euro 2012 in Ukraine» , and called for UEFA to take tough action in the wake of the 2009 European football betting scandal.

Armenian Football Player in Danish Superliga
Yuri Movsisyan was born in Baku, Azerbaijan (USSR) in 1987. He stated he was born in Azerbaijan but he is Armenian. Yuri moved with his family to LA but then moved to Denmark and now plays for Randers in the Danish Superliga.
Yuri Movsisyan and Dima Kovalenko are called «Red Army» and «Soviets» and don’t mind that, this is what the press says about them:
«Along with Javi Morales the toughness and skill of the reformed Soviets has been key in RSL going from zeros to heroes this year.»
He looks like Irish, quite wide spread look among Armenians of certain regions, by the way. Maybe he should move to Ireland then? ;-))

Armenian Weighlifter Wins World Championship in Turkey
Armenian Tigran Martirosyan won the gold medal in Turkey Championship in weightlifting. In his weight category up to 77 kg Martirosyan amounting raised 373 kg (173 in Sprint + 200 per impulse). «Silver» was won by the representative of China Hion′ûn Moon-370 kg (170 + 200), and bronze awards honored Terek Yehia-356 lbs.
At the last World Championship he won the «Silver». He became European champion, and won a bronze medal at the Olympics 2008 in Beijing.
Armenians in Sport…
In British Stouke 36-year-old Armenian Boxer Leva Kirakosyan (32-5-0, 22 KOS) won the title of champion of Europe (EBU) in the first light weight literally destroying local Boxer Scott Lotona (27-6-1, 6 KOS) for three junior round. Kirakosyan was European champion in the heavyweight title, but lost the 2007 to Sergei Gulâkeviču.
A native of Armenia Kirakosyan lives and trains in France. His opponent was the champion of Britain in a heavy weight where spent most of his career.
