According to Turkish press Armenians from Syria became the first piligrims to visit Van after Turkish authorities eventually erected Cross on the dome of the Surb Khach (Holy Cross) church in occupied Western Armenia, on Akhtamar island.
Nowdays total population of Armenians in Syria is 100.000. Most Armenians in Syria are Apostolic, with some being Catholic and adherents of Evangelical church.

As you know South Australia recently has recognised Armenian Genocide although I have heard that it was done mostly due to the efforts of Greek Australian Diaspora. And also recently there was put up a Memorial to the victims of Assyrian Genocide committed by Ottoman Turks and both Armenian and Greek communities participated in the event.
So, here we go, beautiful Australian Armenian community!
