Gypsies in Armenia are called «Armenian Gypsies» or «Armenian Boshas»…
Some of the scholars who have written about the Armenian Boshas during the last century include Dr. Franz Nikolaus Finck, (1867-1910), Professor of General Linguistics at the University of Berlin. He lived in Armenia with the Gypsies and wrote in German, Armenian and English.
Another is V. Papaziants (Papazian) who wrote «Hay-Poshaner, An Ethnographic Study», Tiflis, 1899 (in Armenian.)
Veradzin «Armenian Gypsies in Asia Minor»
Contemporary scholars include Charles J.F. Dowsett (1924-1998) of Oxford University whose last work was «Sayat-Nova: A Biography and Literary Study», 1997.
Professor Dowsett’s «Some Gypsy-Armenian Correspondences» (in Revue des etudes Armeniennes, nouvelle serie, v. 10, 1973-74) explores further, in English, the «Gypsy-Armenian» language.
Currently, Dr. John A. C. Greppin, Professor of Linguistics at Cleveland State University who has lived and researched in Armenia continues the linguistic and ethnographic study of Armenian Boshas in his many publications.

Gypsies in Armenia (calling themselves «Lom», as opposed to Rom in Europe and Dom in Syria and Iran) seem to have appeared in two different phases of their history. The earliest apprearance in historic Armenia is around the seventh century where the Phen Gypsies (one of the two main branches of Gypsies resulting from a parting of ways in the Persian territory, the other being the Ben gypsies) seem to have gone after leaving Persia. While it is not sure how long their sojourn in Armenia was, it can not have been brief for the the European dialects of Romani contain a number of Armenia loan words including:

Translated from akhaltskha (LiveJournal)
«As a little boy, I was often looking toward the mountains surrounding the small town in Akhaltsikhe (Akhaltskha), cherishing at heart idea ever ascend to the top and look into the distance, beyond the horizon. I never could have imagined that in adulthood I have to climb the peaks, where nobody has set foot before. Yes, this is surprising how sometimes our dreams of childhood come true.
Usually I started my morning with a look at Ararat as if greeting him and at night I was trying to remember the last silhouette of the mountain. Back then I couldn’t imagine that someday I will stand on top of the sacred mountain and for this I would have to leave home, Armenia. I think every Armenian will understand my feelings at the very moment when I reached the top of the Armenian holy place and deployed thereour national tricolour. Access to mount was opened for the first time by the official authorities in Turkey, at a time on top of Ararat and on its slopes there was approximately 20 Turkish agents. There I first realised that the mountains are a foot feet of our Lord and as his child, I felt confident and peace in my heart. After returning home, I wrote poems in one go: «you, Holy God, gave me a blissful moment on Ararat.
I think that my life is divided into before and after climbing Ararat».
A special thanks to ZeeGooner from YT for the info ;-)

Father of Armenian Nationalism Garegin Njdeh .
Some of his pictures I have already posted before.
Njdeh is one of the few persons in Armenian history, whose character includes both a soldier and a thinker, an orator and a politician, and who is with no doubt one of the most outstanding people in the whole history of Armenia.
He created a new ideology for the Armenian nation and the whole world to follow — the Tseghakron Ideology. It was the ideology that every creature should set there racial values as a religion. It was a new way of life, to put race above everything. His ideology inspired many Armenians to fight for there Nation and sacred fatherland to the death.
I lived only for what it was worth to die, and now I am ready to die for what it was worth living«, he wrote.
