Children’s Art Gallery (Yerevan)
Armenia has long been famed for its artists, sculptors and stone-carvers, and children are brought up to love art. For this reason the world’s first Children’s Picture Gallery (No. 13 on the corner of Abovian Street and Sayat Nova Street) is of interest. Over the years the gallery has developed into a true centre for developing an aesthetic sense in the rising generation. The spacious building includes exhibition halls, workshops, a concert ball and a library. There have been exhibitions of works by children from the Soviet republics, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, the GDR, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Yugoslavia, Britain, France, the USA, Canada, India and Japan. Every year there are several one-man exhibitions of works by children aged from three to 16. By tradition, all the works exhibited remain the property of the gallery, which now has a collection of over 100,000 drawings. When the modern artist David Siqueiros visited the gallery he called it «a true festival for the children of the planet»

No Comments »Village Chldran of Mardakert region of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (Artsakh) is among the settlements that were severely damaged during the Artsakh war of national liberation. 1992, the village was occupied by the Azerbaijani army, and during the war a few times passed from hand to hand. And only in 1993, the village was finally released from invaders. Here people remember heavy fighting, and respect the memory of perished heroes who gave their lives for freedom . Memorial complex in commemoration of the killed is built right in the centre of the village. The marble slabs show names of 24 people fallen fighters.
Every day kids after school lessons come here and they know by names all fallen fighters. Now children show the portrait and say: «Here is my grandfather»! Generations of children has been changed to grandchildren fallen heroes.

The Russian authour from Moscow who is married to an Armenian now lives and creates in Yerevan ;-) She is also a journalist who always raises up most important issues in Armenia,for example one of my posts about homeless foreigners in Armenia is based on her various entires in Russian. This beautiful lady’s last article is about unbearable living conditions of Armenian refugees from Azerbaijan.
And today I want to share with you her feelings about two countries, her Motherland Russia an new home Armenia. I guess this is how most people having two Homelands feel, including almost entire Armenian nation…

И пафосом дышать в стихах.
Россия мне была (и есть!!!) оплотом,
Я о её грущу степях…
Но затерявшись в оных, я не скрою,
Как о камнях порой взгрустну.
И облако, ласкалось что с горою,
Напомнит мне армянскую страну.

Quite foreign to our culture Hallowen slowly but surely is taking its place in Armenia. it is becoming more and more popular in Armenia while being criticized mostly by the older generation who is more conservative. They are afraid it will harm our culture in the world of globalization. And for the young people it is just one more opportunity to get together, dress up and have lots of fun.
