Daron Acemoglu
Nice surname for an Armenian living in the USA even originally from today’s Turkey, isn’t? What can possibly prevent an Armenian from changing his surname into Armenian or anything but this? The guy is among 20 most cited economists in the world. Originally from Western Armenia, now they say Turkey is calling him «back» to work there and he has agreed. Again nice, isn’t it? But Armenian Government doesn’t seem to have any problems with economy, that might explain why we never invite our own people to their own historical Homeland Armenia.
He is currently the Charles P. Kindleberger Professor of Applied Economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and winner of the 2005 John Bates Clark Medal.
